He was also a past member of the Willow Street Lion’s Club where he was on the board and received Lion of the Year Award in 2003. He was a member of American Legion Post 34, Lancaster as well as past member of Seabee Veterans of America, Seabee Island X-5, Lancaster PA.

He was born in Willow Street, son of the late Harry L. Hackman and Anna Shenk Hackman of Willow Street. Carl was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Jane Weimer and June Louise Galbach. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Peggy L. Stohler. Thinking about the inevitability of one's death is subject that few like to consider.
